The Scare

Hello there!
This past week was filled with a little bit of drama, and I know that alot of our loving family and friends were very concerned about the situation, so I would just like to settle some stomachs..

On Monday I realized that I was leaking some amniotic fluid, so I went to my doctor's office and took a test to see if that was in fact what the problem was. Sure enough, the test came back positive for amniotic fluid (for those of you who don't know what this is, it is the fluid that surrounds the baby to nourish and protect him). So off to the hospital Nate and I went.
After waiting around for an hour or so, 2 tests were given - the first one was to indicate whether or not I was for sure leaking a.f. (I'm starting the abbreviating right about now!), and the second was to test whether or not my water had broke. Well both of the tests came back positive. With these results, my doctor admitted me to the maternity ward of the hospital until baby Jacob arrived. I was so sad to hear this news! All I could think was that I wouldn't be the one to tuck in my baby Will :( However, it was the best thing for the baby Jacob, considering that he would have been 7 weeks too early, and was only 4 1/2 pounds. They did bring in a perinatologist (a doctor who specializes in any kind of fetus complications) to check my a.f. levels, and he said that the baby had plenty of a.f. in there with him.
The next morning, my doctor repeated the same 2 tests from the day before. The first still came back positive for leaking amniotic fluid, and later on Tuesday I found out that the second test came back negative. After leaving me hooked up to monitors and IV's ALL day, I was finally discharged from the hospital, and was put on bed rest. I was so ecstatic to go home!!
I went for a check up on Thursday afternoon, and an ultrasound was performed to check the a.f. levels of the baby.. The level had gone up over 60% in just a few days!! The doctor said that whatever leak I had resealed itself. Because of this, my doctor let me off of bed rest, yet advising me to take it easy.

So here I am! I'm very excited that I am no longer on bed rest, and I am extremely happy to be at home with my 2 favorite guys. I plan on taking it easy, and hopefully Mr. Jacob Nathaniel can cook for at least another 3-4 weeks!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers...
Much love,
Sher

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

Nate proposed!!!
It's definitely official - we are engaged!
He proposed after he took me to dinner on Tuesday night. Will apparently knew for one whole week before! And actually, I believe Will is the one who taught Nate how to get down on one knee :)

This is such an exciting time for us, and I truly feel blessed!

Catching Up

Hey everyone! It's been a couple of months since I added to our blog, so here we go!

Last month we took a family trip to San Diego, and we did many things. We went to the Wild Animal Park, Legoland, the beach, and we celebrated Dan's (Nate's dad) birthday. It was a wonderful trip, and was definitely needed!! I think we are going again in December because the boys were sad we missed out on Sea World..hee hee!

Everyone started school the following week we got home. So it's official - Will is a big kindergartner! I worked from home his first week so that I could drop him off and pick him up from school, since this milestone in his life seemed much harder for me than it was for him! Now, a month into school, he loves his teacher, friends, and going to school. He only goes for a half day, so he gets to be spoiled by Carol throughout the rest of the day...lucky boy!

This past weekend we were in Seattle for Nate's cousins wedding. It was a fun, short trip. I was looking forward to the cold - with all the gloomyness, and rain. Turns out I was meant to sweat this baby out of me, because the weather was gorgeous! It didn't rain once, and the sun was shining bright! We got to visit with the Pike side of Nate's family, we got to see my mom, and we had a great time at the wedding hanging out with the Maier side of the family.

Pregnancy Update!!
We will be 33 weeks on Monday, therefore leaving only 7 weeks before Jacob Nathaniel joins us! We have his room all painted, and furniture moved in. Baby Shower #1 is tomorrow, thrown by my lovely best friend Jocelyn. Pictures to be added afterwards!
