Merry Christmas!
We had a great Christmas!
On Christmas Eve we went to church with Nate's family and enjoyed an amazing mass, and afterwards we ate dinner at a cute little restaurant. When we got home, Will wrote his Christmas list on Santa's cookie plate, and managed to fall asleep, although he was filled with a ton of adrenaline :)
Because Will had stayed up so late, I had to wake him up the next morning! It didn't take much though, and as soon as he realized he was awake, he was up and running into the living room. We opened our Santa gifts, and made our way over to Nathan's parents house for some breakfast and gift exchanging. We (minus Grandma Carol and Jakey) headed down to the movie theatre to watch Marley and Me... what a cute movie!!! And then after the movie we went back to the Maier's and had a wonderfully delicious Christmas dinner. During dinner Nate and I decided on surprising my grandparents in Phoenix with a last minute trip. So first thing the next morning, we were off to Arizona! But first we went home and enjoyed a gift exchange with my dad and sisters :)
The next day my grandparents were completely surprised!! Their garage had been open, so we just walked into their house, and my grandpa was stunned for quite a few minutes... it was super funny!! Our weekend was full of spending time with our family, and was absolutely amazing. It was a great end to Christmas week :)

Jacob's Radiologist Appointment
His appointment to check on his kidney was this past Friday, and he did great! Me and Daddy were pretty nervous, but Jacob was such a big boy!
The procedure consisted of a catheter being inserted into Jake's left kidney, and a special fluid filled his bladder. The doctor watched the fluid via x-ray to see if Jake had reflux. Babies aren't familiar with the sensation of having to pee, so when Jake's bladder was completely full, he began to get fussy (so full in fact, that I asked the doctor if it was going to explode - the answer was 'no' by the way, because Jake was in control of his bladder and nature will call eventually). Once he peed, the doctor was able to determine if he has reflux or not.... and he does not :)
So now we have to go back to the diagnostics center for another ultrasound so that the urologist can decide on what is causing the fluid in his kidney's. Who knows, at this point, fluid may not even be there anymore!
Below is a super cute picture of Jake in the tiniest hospital gown I have ever seen... I would never like to see him in it ever again, but he was SO cute in it!!!!!!

Snow Day!
So I had all the right to be cold the other day - Vegas was getting ready to be hit with more snow than its had in 30 years!
When is started to snow, I was telling someone (who shall remain nameless...[DAD]) how excited Will was, and that someone said not to get too excited because the snow would not stick..... let me tell you that once the snow started falling, it only came quick and thick! We took the opportunity to go to the park down the street and play in the snow. Well, I watched everyone play, I only touched the snow once, and it was on accident :)
Will excited because it's snowing!

Watching the snow 'stick' - according to Nameless, snow is not 'sticking' unless its sticking to the street

Jake's first taste of snow

Our neighborhood only a couple hours of it started

Me and my sisters

Brrrrrr!!!!
It's a cold day in Vegas! 37 degrees outside, and it just snowed on the other side of town... not really my cup of tea considering we just spent a cold, rainy weekend in San Diego/Sea World!
So we had a pretty busy week last week, and we have an even busier one coming up this week! Last weekend we decorated our Christmas tree - actually Will and Nate decorated it and I watched... and I was really proud of them b/c they did such a wonderful job, that my over obsessive everything-has-to-be-in-the-right-spot self didn't even move any ornaments!
On Tuesday Jacob had an appointment with the pediatric urgologist (a doctor who specializes in urinary tracts). To recap (b/c I have lost my mind and am not sure if I ever mentioned this), in ultrasounds during the pregnancy it was detected that Jacob had dilated kidney's. Usually this goes away with the birth, but they monitored it for the remainder of the pregnancy anyways. When Jake was 2 weeks old he got an ultrasound done, and there was still fluid in his left kidney, so with that being found, they sent us to the urologist. The urologist determined that Jake needs to be sent to a radiologist to get a test done that will let us know why there is fluid in his kidney. Ok, before I continue, I would just like to say that this is NOT life threatening. This test will determine 1 of 3 things:
1. there is extra skin on his urethra, which would need to be removed surgically (the doc kind of already eliminated this option as he would have more fluid in his kidney than he currently does)
2. he has Reflux (when pee travels back up into the ureters), which is hereditary, and he would have to be put on antibiotics for a year
OR
3. the ureter has a small opening when it connects to the kidney, so the fluid isn't completely draining, in which case the urologist will monitor regularly
Jake is getting the procedure done on Friday, and it should only take a few minutes. He'll be put on antibiotics for 3 days, starting the day before the procedure. They will be able to tell us during the procedure which of the 3 options it is. Jake is pretty perfect, so I'm sure it will definitely not be option 1 :)

Jacob is 1 month old!!!
Already!
Yesterday marked Jake's 1 month birthday. So while Will was off in Williams, Arizona riding the Polar Express and hanging out with Santa Clause (pictures to come as soon as I get some!), I took a few minutes to do a mini photo shoot of our newest angel.
